 INTRODUCTION

Hosmed Medical Scheme “Hosmed’’, is registered as a Medical Scheme in terms of the Medical Schemes Act 131 of 1998 “the Act’’. Hosmed provides private healthcare insurance to its members and their beneficiaries.

Hosmed is third party administered and has outsourced its managed care services to third party service providers.

The Dispute Resolution Committee (“Committee”) is a committee established in terms of section 29(1)(j) of the Act and in terms of Hosmed Medical Scheme Rules (“Scheme Rules”). Three vacancies exist and Hosmed seeks to fill the vacancies.

The committee exercises its authority as determined by the Board of Trustees (“Board”) from time to time, subject to the provisions of the Act, Regulations, the Schemes Rules and any other applicable legislation.

APPPOINTMENT AND REMUNERATION

Appointment will be subject to Board approval. Remuneration will be in line with a tariff approved by the Board and the members of the Scheme at the Annual General Meeting as required by the rules of the Scheme.  

PREFERENCE

An applicant who possess knowledge, experience and skill in clinical risk management, experience in the medical scheme industry, knowledge of dispute resolution processes, special expertise in mediation, conflict resolution and adjudication, have an understanding of the legislative framework applicable to Medical Schemes and demonstrable knowledge of strategic and management principles would be considered favourably.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

Appropriate tertiary qualification in Law and Medicine

VETTING

The applicants shall be subjected to vetting in line with the Scheme Policies.

MEETINGS OF THE COMMITTEE  

It is envisaged that meetings will take place 4 (four) times in a year

TENURE

The term of office of the members shall not exceed 2 (two) years.
